10 Teasers from Merlin Series 5, Ep 1 “Arthur’s Bane” (Pt 1)

The tagline for series 5 of Merlin is “The die is cast.” What exactly will the results be? Camelot is now basking in the halcyon days of a new Golden Age – three years have passed with Arthur never feeling stronger and with Queen Guinevere and the Knights of the Round Table at his side.

But even as Camelot flowers, her downfall is approaching. In the frozen wastelands of the North, men are disappearing without trace and King Arthur and his Knights undertake a dangerous mission to the unknown to find out just what is going on.

Behind the cut are 10 teasers for the episode and make sure to tune into BBC 1 at 7:45PM on Saturday, October 6th:

  1. “******, is there anything you’re actually capable of doing?”
  2. “Patience and I are old friends.”
  3. It’s raining men – hallelujah! Two in particular –  ****** and *****.
  4. Someone’s got a new ‘do!
  5. “It’s fine really, I’m the one who should apologize.”
  6. “I have been haunted by this moment…”
  7. ****** has a surprise for ****** with interesting results.
  8. “Come on, out with it. What’s wrong?”
  9. I’ve got a theory, it could be bunnies?
  10. “You know I never do as I’m told.”

It’s “The die is cast” actually, old Latin phrase. 😉

Whoops! Thanks for that – fixed! 🙂

Alea iacta est = the die is cast attributed to Julius Caesar by the roman historian Suetonius

Why isn’t Merlin, the main and title character, even mentionned in your introduction? Is he actually in the episode or did youeven paid attention to him? Why is he always the one forgotten in your Merlin reviews? What a paradoxe!

I think I mentioned this in another reply but the introduction was the synopsis provided by BBC. That being said, there’s plenty of parts focusing on Merlin that I’m sure you’ll enjoy when you see the ep.

*Wondering* Where Merlin (hero of the show) fits in all of this? Not even a little mention of him in your article… If he’s not there, I’ll not watch.

The synopsis is the official one from BBC and there’s lots of important things in store for Merlin in this ep – not to worry there!

        Thank you!

That what’s surprising about the tag line and the show in general Arthur is only with the Queen and the Knights, while Merlin is the one who cleans up the mess and never recognised. One would think that almost 10 years in the bantering part would be more creative, not the old “is there anything you’re actually capable of doing?”

      • Did you get to see the opener Sharlene? I’m confident in your opinions: was it a
        a) fantastic
        b) intriguing
        c) good fun
        d) good set up
        e) I can’t believe they did that
        opener.

Or how would YOU describe it in a non-spoiler way.

      • Sharlene Mousfar /

I did see it – and you’ll find out on Saturday! 🙂
