5. 4. 3. 2. 1. Thunderbirds are BACK!

Yep you heard right. The Tracy brothers are heading back to the small screen and WETA Workshop of Lord of the Rings fame are helping them do it.

The Gerry Anderson series was a fan favorite for kids all over and people used to tune in every week to see what those amazing machines called the Thunderbirds would do next. Over the years a few attempts have been made to bring the franchise back with a animated series and also a feature film directed by Star Trek’s Jonathan Frakes but it was always missing something.

This news has given me some hope that we could be getting something special in 2015. ITV have joined with WETA to bring Thunderbirds Are Go back to the our screens. The show will mix CGI with some live action models.

This is what ITV’s Denise O Donoghue had to say about it.

Thunderbirds is a highly respected brand that continues to hold recognition around the world. This cult series is often credited as changing the history of animation and action-adventure, and we look forward to taking the show to another level while retaining the much-loved heritage that has endured over the past fifty years.

Oh and if you wanted a reminder of some failed attempts here is one that was a ANIME interpretation of the original series. Not a bad one but just so wrong at the same time.
