Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci Beaming Down Again for Next Star Trek Film

Writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are set to return for the third new Star Trek movie. In my opinion they did a great job with the first two films, I think this is awesome news!

Originally rumours were flying around that Paramount would be looking for a new team of writers to come in for the third instalment. However it has been reported that Kurtzman and Orci are in negotiations to write the screenplay for the third Star Trek film, but Damon Lindelof who also helped write Star Trek Into Darkness will apparently not be joining them for this project.

Whilst no release date or name have been released yet, the fact that it is Star Trek’s 50th Anniversary in 2016, Paramount would be silly to miss the opportunity to release it then.

J. J. Abrams commitments to Star Wars appear to rule him out from directing the next instalment but it is believed that he will take on a producer role instead.  But at least he will still be involved, and therefore able to still influence and keep the continuity of the new series going which can only be a good thing.
