Alien Prequel gets a Title and Release Date

20th Century Fox has announced that the new “Alien” prequel will be called “Prometheus” and is scheduled to be released March 9th, 2012. Also it has now been said that director Ridley Scott was instructed to make the movie he wanted to make and long as it stays within what the “Alien” universe already established.

Scott said:

“While ‘Alien’ was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative.”

This is great news! Scott is one of the greatest movie makers and Fox have made the smart move by allowing him to make the movie he wants instead of boxing him off. Hopefully what we get out of this will be an amazing movie.

I’m not sure about “Prometheus” as a name! I would prefer something this “Alien” in the title!
