The Hunger Games will be released on March 23rd and I know I’m not the only one extremely excited to see some of my favorite characters come to life. But what’s even more than seeing Katniss, Peeta and Gale on the big screen? Wearing some of the items from the film!
To that end, Lionsgate has teamed up with CafePress for the Official Hunger Games Store launching on February 21st. What’s interesting is that together, they will aggregate fan-created merchandise along with officially licensed products – a one-stop-shop for everything Hunger Games. So it won’t stop the creativity that can be born out of from the imagination of fans but encourage it.
“The Hunger Games is such a moving story of survival in so many ways, and it stays with its readers long after they put the book down,” said Marc Cowlin, Director of Marketing at CafePress.com.
Fans can go wild creating self-designed t-shirts, canvas bags, water bottles, and more than 250 other products. They can also design products for multiple mini-shops within the main portal that will each focus on the film’s major characters and Districts.
Additionally, Lionsgate is running a special promo where fans will have a chance to create a free District ID Card* through a new exclusive Hunger Games Facebook application that will be available within the CafePress shop. That ID Card can then be turned in for an actual physical ID card that shows among other things their district and job assignment.
