Amazon acquires The Minister of Chance

51Snm-4RH+L__AA300_The popular audio drama, The Minister of Chance has been acquired by online retail giant Amazon.

According to a company press release:

Initially funded by creator Dan Freeman’s overdraft, a dazzlingly accomplished script and filmic production values ensured its completion through crowdfunding.  A stellar cast includes Jenny Agutter, Jed Brophy, Lauren Crace, Paul Darrow, Philip Glenister, Tamsin Greig, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann and theatrical legend Julian Wadham as the titular Minister. The epic tale has an effervescent worldwide fanbase (fans are known as ‘Chancers’) and a movie version is in pre-production.

The Minister first appeared in a 2002 BBC Doctor Who audio webcast Death Comes to Time which was directed by Freedman. The character was played by Stephen Fry and Julian Wadham took over the reins when the first episode of The Minister of Chance was released as a podcast in 2012.

The acquisition is a major step for the project which found fame and recognition through word of mouth and will surely to help the series gain more mainstream exposure.

The first series of The Minister of Chance can be purchased from Amazon now.
