Arrow Returns to Sky 1 This October – Episode 1 Synopsis and Video Tease

arrow-tvTime to set your Tivo’s people because the man with bow, with an unhealthy obsession with the colour green is coming back to our UK screens on Sky 1 HD on 21 October at 8pm.

SPOILERS FOR SEASON !1 and SEASON 2 AHEAD!

When last we saw Oliver Queen a good portion of Starling City had gone to hell in a fiery handbasket and during the chaos Oliver’s best friend  Tommy Merlyn was killed while saving Oliver’s former girlfriend Laurel Lance who was also involved with Tommy (I know complicated right?).

Sky has just sent over a synopsis of episode 1 – Read at your own risk.

In the season two premiere, Oliver must transform from vigilante to hero.  Diggle and Felicity travel to the island of Lian Yu in search of Oliver, who left Starling City after the devastation of The Undertaking and his failure to avert it.  Convinced to return home, Oliver finds that things are in much worse shape than he imagined. Isabel Rochev (recurring guest star Summer Glau) is preparing a hostile takeover of Queen Consolidated, Thea refuses to visit Moira in jail and her boyfriend Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) is trying to fill the void left by the Arrow’s absence, meanwhile Laurel is working with the District Attorney’s office to take down the vigilante.

When Thea is abducted, Oliver rededicates himself to his mission but he knows that this time he must be more than just another vigilante. To honor his fallen friend and protect the people he loves, Oliver must become a beacon of hope for the city’s most vulnerable, and a weapon of justice against those who prey upon them… He must become THE ARROW.

Hmm liking the sound of this progression of Vigilante to hero as that was very much the arc we were on with season 1 which I really enjoyed. I especially like the training sequences on the island which could have derailed the show but actually gave it a different dynamic which I hope will continue on in season 2. While I thought the show did lose it’s way a little in some of the middle episodes after a strong start it found it’s feet again and delivered a really solid finale.

I’ll be watching season 2 with interest and not just for the cameo from the Flash speeding his way through Starling City and fingers crossed into his own TV show. I’m hoping that rather than just adding new characters we get to see some more development on John, Felicity, Theas and Roy as well as the Huntress…wherever she is lurking.

To get our appetite whetted for the return of the Emerald Archer here’s a special little advert recorded by Stephen Amell in London which hasn’t even been aired on Sky yet…enjoy and remember to duck!
