‘Assassin’s Creed: Unity’ Gets Rob Zombie Directed Short Film

For the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Unity game, developers Ubisoft have teamed with musician-turned-director Rob Zombie to tell a story set before the events of the French Revolution-set game. It’s a quick history lesson for those of us who weren’t the best world history students.  The animation is done in the style of motion comics, a form of animation which is very divisive. Motion comics take the existing illustration and manipulate the panels to appear as if motion is happening, making them appear cheaper than other forms of animation. For me, this short is successful, despite being a  motion comic. Warning: some of the content is for mature folk, and is considered not safe for work. Don’t lose your…head over it, though.

A story this full of decapitations and human parts being poked is definitely a film befitting horrormeister Rob Zombie, director of House of a 1000 Corpses and the Halloween reboot. Sometimes psycho killers aren’t the only things that are frightening. I wouldn’t want to be on the wrong side of a revolution! Comics artist Tony Moore (Fear Agent, The Walking Dead), is responsible for every gory detail in this 5 minute short.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in late October.
