SDCC: Capcom Announce New Strider Game

The arcade classic Strider is to be revived and will return in 2014

Capcom announced during a Comic-Con panel discussion that Strider will be revived in 2014. It will be a digital release and will come out in 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One – it will be developed by Double Helix.

Capcom said Strider will feature “an ultra-responsive control system, with incredibly satisfying combat options in every traversal context-standing, running, wall climbing, hanging, aerial and more”.  The game is reported to have a large playing world, in a non-linear environment which will allow players to revisit levels and open up previously inaccessible areas via upgrades to your system.

The story follows “Hiryu, the youngest ever Super A ranked agent of an elite corps known as the Striders. Strider Hiryu receives orders to assassinate Grandmaster Meio, supreme dictator of Earth, who has plunged humanity into a dystopian dark age.”
