Conan the Barbarian and More Comes to the Empire ‘Presents BIG SCREEN’ Event this August

As you know our intrepid GS reporter Brogen  was in Cannes last month to report on the launch of ‘BIG SCREEN‘  an ambitious new event being hosted at the O2 over three days in August (12th – 14th) by the Empire Magazine. Well I checked out the website today and it’s now starting to be updated with some more information on what people can expect who attend the event.

So far the show is promising that attendees to the con will be the first to see preview footage, and  get the chance to get up close with the film-makers and stars behind some of the big films. One of the first big films to announce their involvement with the event is the new Conan the Barbarian starring Jason Mamoa.

As well as Conan the organisers are promising more unseen footage from upcoming films. What these films will be at the moment is anyone’s guess.

So far Walt Disney Company, Disney Pixar, Twentieth Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Marvel Studios, Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios and Warner Bros have already agree to be a part of this event so I’m sure they will be showing off their upcoming slate of films as well.

There will also be the chance to attend special talks, screenings and Q & A sessions which are being hosted in conjunction with Cineworld.  There will be ten screens  playing host to various screenings/events over the three days the convention is being held. Not all of the events have been finalised but here’s a taster of what to expect.

Screen 1: In Conversation with… – Live Q & A with Hollywood’s Movie Legends
Screen 2: How they do it – Learn the secrets behind the movie magic
Screen 3: Empire Greats – The chance to see your favourite movies on the BIG SCREEN
Screen 4: Kim Newman’s Chamber of Horrors – Inside the vault of Empire’s Guru of Gore
Screen 5: Small Screen – Previewing the best UK and US TV shows
Screen 6: Comic Book World – Superheroes and their creators
Screen 7: Empire Comes Alive! – Enjoy the world’s greatest movie magazine live!
Screen 8: Pick ‘n’ Mix – Gaming, Movies & More

I’m really interested in checking out pretty much all of these events and hopefully there will be some never before stuff mixed in there. We still have a way to go before the event so I’m sure we can expect a lot more announcements before August.

A look at the floor plan for Big Screen

Tickets have already gone on sale and some of the higher priced options have already sold out. If you want to find out more then head over the main website for the event. and you can get info on the ticket options and pricing  here

This sounds like a great idea for an event so far and hopefully it will live up to the potential.
