Countdown to Gadget Show Live: FUTURISTIC TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCED

The Gadget Show Live is drawing ever closer and as always Geek Syndicate is looking forward to seeing what gadgets will be showcased at the event and what will be happening.

In advance of the UK’s leading consumer electronics show, The Gadget Show Live (taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from 11 to 15 April) today gives you a glimpse into the future and announces the tech of tomorrow which will be on show for visitors in its expanded International Future Tech Zone.

Products on show include a brand new fun gadget called Necomimi, which gets its world launch at the show and indicates the future of fashion. Necomimi from Neurosky are wearable cat ears, which wiggle using the power of your mind! The brain wave technology makes the cat ears react and move in accordance to their user’s emotions and they will be available at the show for people to see for the first time.
Also on show will be the latest in augmented reality phone apps from Aurasma, blurring real life and virtual reality via a phone app! This tech means you can superimpose imaginary creatures and images into real life images from your smartphone. Aurasma is the world’s first visual browser and uses advanced image and pattern recognition to understand real-world images and objects before blending them with interactive content such as videos and animations called “auras”. More phone-based tech comes from Bubble Pix, which shows the future of photography – it’s a 360-degree camera (with 360 video capability) that can be fitted to your smart phone.

Gadget Show Live will also unveil some very different ways of getting around with spnKIX showing their battery powered motorised skates, which strap onto any shoes and are controlled by a hand-held remote control. Another new alternative is Solowheel the self-balancing electric unicycle, which uses gyroscope technology. Visitors to The Gadget Show Live can try both devices out for themselves in the Gadget Wheels Test Track area.
You’ll find a one-man aircraft from Parajet as well as Festo’s latest flying SmartBird on show in Future Tech. The SmartBird is a beautiful bionic mechanical bird inspired by the herring gull, which takes off, flies and lands autonomously. You’ll also find the new 3D design software from Leonar3do (first time it can be seen in the UK).
Finally, your senses are in for a treat with the new ‘smelly’ outdoor advertising. Developed by JCDecaux, the future of bus shelter outdoor advertisement will be on display at the show, from which you can smell fresh baked potatoes via the ad for McCain Ready Baked Jackets! The International Future Technology Zone is just one of many entertaining and interactive features at this year’s Gadget Show Live. Other features include the GAME Zone, The HUB theatre (tech reviews presented by Stuff TV’s Lucy Hedges and Radio One’s Aled Hayden Jones), the Home Gadgets Zone and new Music Zone.
