And here we are on day three of our countdown to the London Super Comic Con. You know the drill people now settle in and crack on.
The LSCC Hosts its First Ever Charity Auction
The main reason we started Geek Syndicate was because Dave had been listening to Comic Geek Speak. Jamie Dallessandro aka Jamie D was one of the founding members who I often found myself shouting in disagreement or agreement with what he was saying on CGS, which is the point of listening to a good podcast. It was a sad day for podcasting when he passed away.
In honour of his memory the team at LSCC have organised the first and hopefully not the last Charity Art Auction.
All proceeds from the auction will go to The American Cancer Society as a donation in the name of Jamie Dallessandro. As a founding member of Comic Geek Speak, one of the first and longest running podcasts centred around our love for comics, Jamie helped bring out people’s passion for comics and was a long time friend of and volunteer at the very first LSCC. Unfortunately Jamie succumbed to cancer in May 2014 after a long battle. When artist J.K. Woodward reached out to us to help bring together this Charity Event, we were more than happy to say yes.
Your participation will help fund cancer prevention studies, research and treatment, screenings for treatable cancers in underserved communities, create new treatments for cancer and other catastrophic diseases with the goal of one day finding a cure. The American Cancer Society has helped make possible almost every major cancer research breakthrough since 1946.
Further images of the pieces being auctioned will be posted in the coming days. Make sure you keep the evening of Saturday the 14th free in your diary, as comic creators will be turning up to showcase and encourage you to purchase a piece for this very worthwhile event.
The Auction is set to take place on the Saturday at 7pm and will be Hosted by Sean Kelly of the Storage Hunters’ TV show. There will be 50 pieces of original art going under the hammer from the likes of Bill Sienkiewicz,Jamal Igle,JK Woodward,Tim Seeley,Alan Davis,Liam Sharp and many more.
The auction is certainly worth checking out if you want to pick up a nice piece of art and see your hard earned cash go tot a good cause. Below are a few piece that will be up for auction.
