Creator-Owned Heroes Cancelled After Issue 8

In an announcement that may have shocked some and been inevitable to others, Jimmy Palmiotti, one of the creators behind Creator-Owned Heroes, has announced that with issue eight Creator-Owned Heroes will come to an end.

While the series has been able to put such big names as Palmiotti, Steve Niles, Darwyn Cooke, and more on it’s creators list, it seems the sales just weren’t there. Palmiotti himself said that maybe just a few more thousand sales a month would’ve made all the difference, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Though it could be any number of reasons as to why the series didn’t take off, one that Palmiotti thinks might have contributed to it is that there weren’t any “name” characters in each issue, but just new characters and stories that people had no real attachment or familiarity to.

I, for one, am sad to see the series go, as I thought it was one of the best books every month. Two stories, interviews, and much more made Creator-Owned Heroes worth much more than just about any other 3.99 book.
