Daughter of Smoke and Bone – Cover Reveal

Hardback

We don’t do this very often on GeekSyndicate, however, we felt the need to share this glorious cover for one of Hodder Publisher’s new books coming later this year.

The author is Laini Taylor and although this isn’t her first novel, this is the novel that Hodder bought for the UK and it is in a word, superb.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone will launch on September 29th and is the first in a trilogy of. The book tells the story of an angel who fell in love with a devil. It did not end well.

Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky. In a dark and dusty shop, a devil’s supply of human teeth grows dangerously low. And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherworldly war.

Meet Kaoru. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters and demons that delight and enthral those around her; she’s prone to disappearing on mysterious “errands”; she speaks many languages – not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that colour.

Her life straddles two worlds: the human and a place that is Elsewhere. She has never really known which one is her true home, but now the doors to Elsewhere closing . . .Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she’s about to find out..

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of my top reads for 2011, regardless of genre or age-group.  It ticks so many boxes and can’t be definited as one thing, or the other.  The biggest “box” it can fit in would probably be: urban fantasy.  But it is so much more; action adventure, mythopoeic, fantasy, thriller, crime, esoteric, mystery, literary…actually, I lie.  There is no box for this book.  It’s simply a bloody good book and I cannot wait to write up my review although, my review will probably be: Just buy the book.

Do you by any chance have the scan for the full hardback cover of Dreams of Gods and Monsters? I’m trying to hunt down a scan so I can get it professionally printed to replace a dust jacket for my own hardback copy of the book.

    • Hey Micah, apologies for not getting back to you before. I’m afraid we don’t have a the full hardback cover. Sorry about that!
