DC Dispatches: Batman vs Superman – Dawn of Justice, The Flash

Whether it’s Warner Bros, The CW or the DC stable themselves, here are the world-wide mutterings!

This week: the Man of Steel Sequel is officially christened “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice”, and more on The Flash!

Batman vs Superman: Well, given that the casting has been indicating that this film was morphing from a World’s Finest into a JLA prequel, the title would indicate that the latter is definitely the case. And how pleased was I when I saw the logo poster on the web:

And an official press release was also issued: BURBANK, CA, May 21, 2014 – Filming is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the highly anticipated action adventure from director Zack Snyder, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from “Man of Steel,” Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer.  Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.
Set to open worldwide on May 6, 2016, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, Batman characters created by Bob Kane, and Wonder Woman created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.

Also appearing on the web was a leaked photo of the new Batmobile:

Oh, and regarding all those questions surround the black & white image of Batfleck, Batman fanboy and Batfleck confidant Kevin Smith hinted at the colour scheme of the recently released picture: “As you may remember, I saw a photo of the Batsuit many months ago, and many people asked online, ‘Is that the picture you saw?’” recalled Smith. “No, that is a very cool picture, but that is not the picture I saw… They put it on a fake rooftop, and they lit it up. But it was in color, and you could see every piece of detail.“So I’ve seen some people online go, ‘Why is this fucking suit any different than the Chris Nolan Batsuit, it’s all one fucking color?’ It’s like, ‘Dude, that’s a monochrome photo. You know what that means – one chrome.“That’s not a representation of what the suit looks like. So what the suit looks like, and I was always kind of keeping it quiet until they revealed it, but they’ve revealed it. And you can kind of see, and anybody that… you’ve seen some people take the picture and colour it online. If you want to see what this fucking suit looks like, you just go to Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, go to the third book, Hunt The Dark Knight… it’s the exact fucking outfit he’s wearing. That’s why I hugged that guy all those months ago.”

Truly, I cannot wait until May 6th 2016!

The Flash: writer Mark Waid has been discussing the The Flash TV show: “I like the look of it. I like that he seems to be having fun as a superhero. Because, again, if your superpower is that you can run really fast and make time stop, it would be a blast… I admit I got chills when he said, ‘My name is Barry Allen, I’m the fastest man alive.’ That gave me chills.” He also commented on Ben Affleck as the next Batman. “I think he’ll be fine. Look, I was around when — I was literally working in the DC Offices — when Michael Keaton was announced as Batman, and you would have thought that the world had ended at that point. Everyone was all like ‘This is the end of all comics.’ And it was fine.”
And if you haven’t seen it, here’s the latest extended trailer for the new Flash show:
