DEUS EX: The Fall – Installments Confirmed, Micro-Payments announced

Deus Ex The FallEurogamer have presented some interesting information regarding the forthcoming iOS game, Deus Ex: The Fall. As I reported earlier, the game is the first installment in a series of games and will take about six hours for a single playthrough – the installment that is, not the full campaign!

Eurogamer also report that the game will feature in-game purchases on top of the cost of the game itself. Players will be able to use real world currency to buy augmentations, ammo and so on in the game. While this is an option, the developers maintain it is not required and that everything can be unlocked through gameplay.

The company also noted that there were no plans to release the title on any platform other than iOS. This last bit of news is disheartening – I was looking forward to giving it a go as I’m a fan of the franchise, but with no XBOX Live, PC or Windows 8 version, I won’t be able to. This seems counter-intuitive to me, when one of the stated aims is to “open the franchise to new players” …
