Discover Festival: A New Literary Con for Sci Fi, Fantasy & Horror Fans

Never heard of this one before but it sounds like a great weekend for those who want to meet their favourite authors or meet new ones and also enjoy a fun weekend with like-minded people. Discover Festival will run from May 18-20th.

With lots of authors already confirmed I can see this event becoming a fixed slot in the convention scene.

2012 sees the first Discover Festival taking place at Snibston Discovery Museum, Coalville. The festival will be presenting a wide range of author readings, panels, writing workshops and much more featuring some of the leading writers, editors and agents in science-fiction, fantasy and horror.

Discover Festival runs from Friday 18th-Sunday 20th May 2012 and includes access to a host of activities throughout. The first Guest of Honour confirmed for the event is bestselling science-fiction writer Peter F Hamilton, who has sold over two million books worldwide to date, including the popular Greg Mandel trilogy and Commonwealth saga novels.

Event organiser Alex Davis said: ‘I’m really excited to be bringing the Discover Festival to Snibston, which is a fantastic venue for a big event like this. The weekend will be perfect for existing fans of science-fiction, fantasy and horror, as well as those with just a casual interest or looking to explore this exciting area of fiction more.’
