Doctor Geof Wins Steampunk Readers Choice Award

Doctor Geof’s Steampunk Literary Review has won Best Steampunk Periodical at the Steampunk Readers Choice Awards.

The Steampunk Review is an anthology of Doctor Geof’s work. Doctor Geof is one of the leading artists in the UK Steampunk scene. He founded the Leeds Steampunk market, has had his work displayed at the Royal Greenwich Observatory, and also has an upcoming solo exhibition at the Cutty Sark.

Doctor Geof will be at London’s MCM Expo from May 23rd to the 25th at table 481 in the Comic Village section of the convention.

He talks a little below about his influences:

I like examining old design and ideology in the light of the new, which is probably why many aspects of my work tap closely into the Steampunk movement. I was a physicist who had recently completed a PhD, but I always wanted to make comics and draw. After my first comic it all slowly went somewhere and the more I did comics the more I started to enjoy drawing Steampunk related artwork, which tied in to the physics side of things remarkably well.

The Readers Choice Awards, run by the Steampunk Chronicle, is a really exciting and in-depth awards which celebrates everything, and we mean everything, Steampunk. This is a worldwide celebration of Steampunk literature, art, music and design, and there is a huge selection of categories to vote in each year.

It’s only in its third year, but has an excellent reputation for bringing you the best creatives in each field.

Are you going to London’s MCM Expo this year? Make sure you stop by Doctor Geof’s table and say howdy.
