Doctor Who Stamps Released Today … Yesterday!

Doctor Who LogoRoyal Mail LogoRoyal Mail are once again joining in with a Doctor Who celebration by releasing a range of stamps to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the BBC television show and British Institution. The stamps – 11 featuring the face of each incarnation of the wandering Time Lord and a twelfth sheet of “mini-stamps” depicting the TARDIS and four of the Doctor’s enemies are available across the UK in Post Offices, or online at http://www.royalmail.com/doctorwho. Still here? Good stuff!
Here’s what the MD of Stamps and Collectibles and the Product Development Director for BBC Worldwide have to say about the stamps:

Andrew Hammond, Managing Director, Stamps and Collectibles at Royal Mail: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate this remarkable 50th anniversary. These stamps pay tribute to the brilliant actors that have played the Doctor over the years as well as the adversaries that helped make the show so popular.”

Fiona Eastwood, Product Development Director, BBC Worldwide Consumer Products said: “The Doctor Who stamps are the perfect way to mark and celebrate the 50th anniversary of this much-loved programme. The collection is really impressive, and I am sure they will delight all Doctor Who fans.”

I’d add that the RM (love it or hate it) and Doctor Who are both institutions and it’s a great piece of memorabilia to get hold of. I was lucky enough to find a set waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday thanks to my amazing wife – and I can tell you that these stamps are great looking. They’re mini-prints that can easily be framed and displayed with pride. For a stamp collector or a regular fan of the show, I think these are a good item to get hold of.

So, enough rambling – here’s the stamps themselves:
