Dr Who 50th Anniversary Episode in 3D

Doctor-WhoDon’t bin those shades – your favourite Time-Lord is arriving in 3D.

The 50th anniversary special of Doctor Who will also be produced in 3D, and distributed in cinemas (as post of us don’t have a 3D TV).

Bleeding Cool are reporting that the landmark episode, will be shown and broadcast in 3D for the minority of viewers who do own 3D sets; it’s no secret that 3D sets sales did not take off during the Olympics as expected, and the cinema move will be seen as a way to get around that.

They also have a quote from Steven Moffat himself: “It’s about time. Technology has finally caught up with Doctor Who and your television is now bigger on the inside. A whole new dimension of adventure for the Doctor to explore.”

The anniversary episode will be broadcast in the spring and Doctor Who series 7 returns on 30th March 2013.
