Dr Who Audio Drama Spin Off ‘The Minister of Chance’ Available for Free!

I’m forever on the hunt for  my next audio drama fix and not too long ago I found that fix in the welcoming arms of The Minster of Chance, featuring the adventures of a defrocked  Timelord.

The Minister of Chance is a new form of entertainment – a radiophonic drama – made using a combination of film and radio techniques and delivered by podcast. It is the first, but we hope not last, of its kind. By painstakingly constructing soundscapes we create worlds that you can drift into wherever you are.

To begin with the team were charging a modest fee to download an episode so that the costs could go back into production but now you can listen free to the episodes of which two rare currently out there. So far I’ve listened to the first episode and really enjoyed it with cast that reads like a who’s who of UK Sci-fi shows.

Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann (both ex-Doctors in Doctor Who); acclaimed stage and screen actor Julian Wadham(Spielberg’s War HorseThe Madness Of King GeorgeThe English PatientThe Iron Lady); the appealing and deeply talented Lauren Crace (EastEnders); the inimitable Paul Darrow (narrator in Star Wars: The Old Republic, as well as starring in Law and Order UK and having burnt his place in sci-fi TV history best anti-hero ever as ‘Avon’ in the BBC’s Blake’s 7), Jenny Agutter (An American Werewolf In LondonLogan’s RunEquus)…and more.

I would definitely recommend anyone who’s a fan of Dr Who and of audio dramas to swing over to the Minister of Chance website and check out the first episode as it’s a great listen. Head here to find out how you can download the episodes from iTunes.
