DRIVECLUB Will Not Be A PS4 Release Title

Confirmation came late last week from Shuhei Yoshida that SCE Worldwide Studios and Evolution Studios have come to the difficult decision to delay the release of DRIVECLUB until ‘early 2014’

The delay comes hot on the heels of the announcement from Ubisoft that Watch Dogs will also miss launch day and will be delayed until next year.  This latest delay however must be a bit of a heavier blow to Sony as DRIVECLUB was an exclusive being produced by their own studios.  According to the statement from SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida, DRIVECLUB has been delayed until 2014, to give the team more time to deliver on their vision.

I’ve got to say I’m a little surprised by this announcement, I managed to have a go of the demo that was on display at Eurogamer at the end of September and it looked pretty polished back then (even though I believe this was using Alpha code).  However, I would rather the game came out closer to their vision of what it should look like rather than a rushed out version and having to rely on multiple updates to get it there.

This will also affect PlayStation Plus members’ Instant Game Collection – DRIVECLUB was due to be a launch day download.

For the PS4 launch there will now be Resogun (previously confirmed) and they have now added Contrast into the DRIVECLUB slot to make up for the delay – confirmation has been given that the DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition will still be part of the Instant Game Collection when it does get released.

If you are not aware of Resogun or Contrast, check out their trailers below.
