DVD PREVIEW: Attack of the Werewolves

1910: In a remote village, a terrible curse has fallen on the evil Marchioness of Marino and her son, transforming him into a blood-thirsty werewolf who preys on the residents of the village. One hundred years later, Thomas, the only male descendent of the Marino family, returns home to a warm welcome from the villagers, but things aren’t quite what they seem…
“After a century of being terrorized by the vicious werewolf, the villagers plan to break the curse by sacrificing Thomas 100 years to the day when the original curse was cast.  He must defeat the villagers and pit his wits against a violent beast in order to save himself and overcome a curse that threatens to last for another 100 years.” (Juan Martínez Moreno)

Originally titled Game of Werewolves, this Spanish made comedy/horror centres around Thomas, an unsuccessful writer. After 15 years away, he goes back to Arga, the village in Galicia where his family comes from, apparently to receive an award. But he doesn’t know the real reason he is there – to end the old curse that has been haunting the village for the last hundred years.

Juan Martínez Moreno has been involved in films since the late 80’s, and although this is only his third as writer/director, it does come after the highly acclaimed crime drama A Good Man. We look forward to his outing into this genre!

Released on DVD and Blu-ray 8 October 2012
