Doom has been to hell and back again, and it’s still alive! Some would have counted Doom out, and for good reason. People don’t exactly scream about Doom 3 from the rooftops. The most I remember hearing about that game is the complaints about the flashlight. That damn flashlight. The new Doom, just called Doom, is brutal and malicious. I can see why it’s not another numbered sequel, because this is a reworking of the series. You are not just shooting the hordes of hell. Now you are getting violently intimate with nasty creatures.
Here’s a bonus for you: a larger version of the above gameplay video. If you want to know what Doom is made of, this will satisfy.
The multiplayer feels a bit like Bioshock, specifically when the player interacts with the hell icon and becomes a demon. In the single player, the main character feels like Crysis, where you have powers provided to you through an exo suit; It even eliminates fall damage! The new gameplay feature I think people will be talking about the most are the opportunities you are given to execute vulnerable enemies with your fist. The new Doom feels much like 2011’s Mortal Kombat, which kept what everyone loved, but also considered what new gamers are looking for. Doom is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC in the spring of 2016.
