E3 2017: Heavy Metal Platformer Valfaris Announced

I’ve been a metalhead for almost as long as I can remember, so when I saw news of a heavy metal platform action game, I was instantly intrigued. Valfaris is from developer Steel Mantis (made up from the team that previously developed Slain: Back from Hell), and is a gory pixel-art game set in a distant galaxy, one which, as it often the case, has a few troubling issues that need addressing. In this case, the reappearance of the once strangely disappeared fortress of Valfaris, A place that was once a paradise, it’s now the domain of creeping shadow and nasty monsters. The player will take control of Therion, a proud son of Valfaris, as he goes back to his home and attempts to sort everything out.

Features of the game will be a variety of brutal weaponry, gory pixel-art created by Andrew Gilmour, and a heavy metal soundtrack from former Celtic Frost guitarist Curt Victor Bryant. Valfaris is set for a 2018 release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. You can watch the announce/teaser trailer below to get an idea of the aesthetic. I think it’s looking very promising and might prove to be a great bit of fun for any heavy metal nuts and sci-fi monster slaying fans out there.
