Eurogamer News Round up – Halo 4, Company of Heroes 2 and More

With only a month until Eurogamer Expo 2012, the news and announcements are coming thick and fast. The latest news round up covers playable demo’s and developer sessions for the likes of Dust 514, Company of Heroes 2, the much anticipated Halo 4 and much more.

Company of Heroes 2

THQ Inc. have announced that Company of Heroes® 2 will be playable by the public for the first time anywhere in the world at this year’s Eurogamer Expo. Not only that, but developer Relic Entertainment will be taking to the developer session stage on Saturday 29th September to showcase more of the game. Everyone who plays the game at the show or views the developer session will also a surprise gift.

“Company of Heroes is one of the best real-time strategy games ever made and the sequel looks stunning already, so we’re really happy that gamers will get to play it first at this year’s Eurogamer Expo,” said Tom Bramwell, Eurogamer’s Operations Director. “THQ and Relic are going all out to make sure attendees have a great time with a special surprise in store for people who play the game and watch the developer session.”

Need for Speed developer session

Criterion Games will be presenting a Need for Speed: Most Wanted developer session at this year’s Eurogamer Expo. Developers Matt Webster and Steve Cuss will be on stage on the afternoon of Friday 28th September to show Most Wanted in action, talk about changes to the revolutionary Autolog social gaming system and take questions from the audience. The session will be hosted by Richard Leadbetter, editor of Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry technology channel, who will lead the audience Q&A.

Dust 514

Eurogamer have announced that Dust 514 will be playable throughout this year’s show. CCP’s upcoming free-to-play first-person shooter for PlayStation 3 is currently in closed beta, but the Eurogamer Expo will give attendees a chance to go hands-on with it and get a feel for the action.

Halo 4 Developer Session

Eurogamer has announced that Frank O’Connor from 343 Industries will present a Halo 4 developer session to kick off this year’s show. Plus, for the first time in the UK, fans will get access on the showfloor to the “Halo Infinity Multiplayer” experience through the competitive multiplayer modes of War Games.

The Halo 4 session will be the first of the show at midday on Thursday 27th September. O’Connor will take the stage to showcase this year’s biggest Xbox 360 release to attendees, before its worldwide launch on 6th November.

“We were looking around for a big video game icon to open the show and they don’t get much bigger than the Master Chief,” said Tom Bramwell, Eurogamer Operations Director. “The Master Chief is more than a video game star – he’s a pop culture icon – and we can’t wait to see what 343 Industries has in store for us.”

Dishonored & Doom 3 BFG Edition playable at Eurogamer

DishonoredTM and DOOM® 3 BFG Edition™, published by Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, will both be playable for the first time in the UK at this year’s show.

Dishonored is a new first-person action game developed by Arkane Studios in which the player takes on the role of Corvo, a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. This week the game claimed’s Gamescom Game of the Show award. Dishonored is set for release throughout Europe on October 12.

DOOM 3 BFG Edition will be available throughout Europe on October 19 and features DOOM 3 and the Resurrection of Evil® add-on pack, both of which have been completely remastered, as well as seven new levels entitled “The Lost Mission”. Buyers will also get their hands on DOOM and DOOM 2 as part of the package.

“We love games that let players make their own fun using flexible systems, and Dishonored looks like the best example of this in a long time, so it was an easy decision to make it our Gamescom Game of the Show,” said Tom Bramwell, Eurogamer Operations Director and Editor of “We’re also delighted to have it playable at the Eurogamer Expo, and it will be a great chance for gamers to experience the remastered DOOM 3, too!”
