EVENT PREVIEW: Norwich Sci-Fi Convention IV

nor-con-logoIt is just over a month and a half until the doors of NOR-CON IV will be opening, a stones throw away from Norwich Airport. It is organised and run by the Norwich Sci Fi Club, and is raising money for Nelson’s Journey, a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved young people in Norfolk.

Confirmed guest appearances include Chris Barrie, Norman Lovett and Robert Llewellyn of Red Dwarf fame. Authors Adam Millard and Robert Rankin. Virginia Hey of Farscape, various Doctor Who stars including Colin Baker and Sophie Aldred. And more besides. There will be various chances for some mild celebrity stalking including autographs, photo opportunities and general adulation.

The event features a smorgasbord of attractions and events throughout the day. The chance to have a green-screen photo taken making it appear that you are on the bridge of the Enterprise or some other iconic location. There is also the chance to have an audience with the Daleks, an opportunity to ask those sinister dustbins of Sci Fi the burning questions that stop you sleeping at night. There will also be other Q&A sessions throughout the day featuring a variety of topics and guests.

A crew from Paintopia will also be on hand to offer make-up tips and special effects demos, revealing the magic of making normal people look like aliens or other strange creatures. This may come in handy as there will be various people in costume/Cosplaying at the event. If you feel out of place, you might pick up some great tips for next time.

There will also be the numerous opportunities to buy merch and strange oddities from a variety of traders in the Traders Hall.

Tickets ordered through the website cost as follows:

Adults : £6

Children : £4

Family Ticket (2 adults + 3 children) : £20

Buying online is cheaper than buying at the door.

Doors open at 9:30am for ticket holders, general admission is 10am anyone else.

Last entry permitted is 4pm with the event ending at 5pm.

It is being held September 8th 2013 at The Holiday Inn, Norwich North – NR6 6JA

It sounds like a great day out for people of any age, and I am very much looking forward to going and seeing what goes down.
