The Force Awakens … In Harrods

If you have an interest in Star Wars and find yourself in the London area, you might want to head over to Harrods. The department store has a Disney Store located on the fourth floor and this currently has a gallery dedicated to the film: The Force Awakens. The gallery is filled with replica props – including weapons like Rey’s staff, character models and the Millenium Falcon cockpit.

While not the actual props used in the film, these replicas have been produced by Propshop at Pinewood Studios – the company who created the originals for the movies. As such, these are about as authentic as any fan could hope for.

The exhibition is a world-wide exclusive – so it’s a great time to have a look.

Here’s the official lowdown:

This free ticketed gallery allows fans to view and buy the most authentic line up of Star Wars prop replicas ever created. Made to order by propmakers at Propshop in Pinewood Studios, who created the original props for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, items include the Chewbacca Bowcaster, Kylo Ren Lightsaber, Rey Staff as well as full size figures of Captain Phasma, BB-8 and more. Guests will also get a rare glimpse of the Millenium Falcon cockpit and Holochess Table and Sofa.

Using the latest and most advanced scanning technology, fans also have the unique opportunity to transform themselves into a Stormtrooper, TIE Fighter Pilot or a Rebel Pilot. Detailed data is captured by Propshop’s state-of-the-art photogrammetry system, enabling their head and face to be perfectly replicated, processed and 3D printed in colour, resulting in their very own personalised maquette, which stands at nearly half a metre tall. The same technology was used to capture the actors in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Being able to have a go on the photogrammetry system and obtain a 50cm maquette of myself as a Rebel Pilot or Stormtrooper sounds pretty tempting. Now, where can I get hold of a spare £1,595 to purchase the maquette!

Head on over to  www.harrods.com/disneystarwarsgallery to book yourself a complementary ticket to the gallery.
