Wales Comic-Con Preview

4581775027_525x131Wales seems to be evolving into a great place to be if you are a geek.   Following on from the success of the Sci-Fi Weekender in Prestatyn and the Cardiff Comic Expo,  it’s now the turn of Wales Comic-Con to treat fans in and around Wales to a slice of the action.

Being held at Glyndwr University in Wrexham, this Con has grown in stature over the past few years to become a real behemoth in the Con calendar.

Guests this year include Buffy Alumni Nicholas Brendon, Hobbit Billy Boyd, 24 star Carlos Bernard and fan favourite Robert Picardo.  It seems obvious that the promotions company behind this event are fans themselves as they seem to know what will make their audience happy. They have not one, not two, no, not even three of the Red Dwarf cast.   In fact, Danny John-Jules, Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn, Norman Lovett and Hattie Hayridge will all be appearing on the day.

As well as the usual photoshoots and autograph sessions, other attractions will include a dedicated Comiczone, dealers room and appearances by an original Chevy Impala (Sam and Dean not included) and Knight Riders KITT Car.  Q&A Sessions will run over the course of the day for Game of Thrones, Red Dwarf, Buffy, Merlin, Lord of the Rings and Primeval.

As someone who lives North of the Border, it’s great that Cons such as this are catering for those far away from the bright lights of London.  With outside-of-of-the-capital location comes very reasonable prices with entry only £6 (under 14s £3)

Wales Comic Con will be held on Sunday 28th April at Glyndwr University, Wrexham.
