London Fashion Week is now under way and GS are taking a look back to the Anya Hindmarch AW16 show, which took inspiration from pixelated art and 8-bit video games. The fun but sophisticated collection is now available online and in store! We want all of it.
Fashion designer and multi-award winner Anya Hindmarch has been on the fashion scene since 1987. Her business has grown into a global success with flagship stores in London, New York and Tokyo. With her latest collection for SS17 being shown this week at LFW, we’re taking a look back at her last collection, which featured clothing and accessories inspired by pixelation and digital art. Basically Pacman, Space Invaders and all the things we love ever.
“The Autumn Winter 2016 collection examines pixelation and colour: the building blocks of digital design. I’m fascinated with the debates surrounding digital design as ‘art’ so have started at the beginning, with early 8 bit graphics and pioneering arcade games. We’ve explored each design using innovative leatherwork techniques such as heat-fusing and leather marquetry.”

It wasn’t just the clothing that had a fun nostalgic feel to it- the show itself was just as brilliant, opening with a game of pong played on a pixelated set, then moving onto Tetris. The interactive stage amplified the theme of the collection and provided an incredible light show and story. Watch the show below!
The collection is now available online, with coats, bags, wallets and shoes. All the prices can be found there too. Check out some of our favourites below:
