Fatale from Image Comics Now Ongoing

FataleFatale, the Image book from Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, is now an ongoing series. Though originally envisioned as a miniseries, strong sales and a desire to tell more stories has pushed Brubaker and Phillips to keep Fatale going.

“Fatale was originally envisioned as a novel in three parts,” said Brubaker in an interview with Comics Alliance, “but I kept having ideas for side-plots and tangents or single issues, and it started to feel more like it was meant to be a more sprawling story. So I just decided to let it go until it’s finished.”

To kick off the new format, Brubaker and Phillips are taking readers back in time to explore the curse of the femme fatale. In issue eleven, readers are taken back to the 1930s and some of Jo’s secret are revealed. In issue twelve, we find a woman with the femme fatale curse facing persecution as a witch in Medieval Europe. In issue thirteen, we’re thrust into the Wild West, where even a woman can make a life for herself with a little luck and a gun. Fourteen brings us to World War II where Jo meets some Nazi cultists.
