Final Incal concludes Jodorowsky and Moebius’s epic saga

In 1981 Alexandro Jodorowsky and Moebius’s sci-fi series, The Incal was released. It has sold 3 million copies worldwide and now, the conclusion arrives in glorious deluxe limited edition packaging. Jodorowsky returns to write while Ladrönn and Moebius have drawn Final Incal.

Alejandro Jodorowsky is the very definition of a polymath and as well as comics (which he began in 1966 with Anibal 5), he is known for films (such as The Rainbow Thief), plays, acting, writing novels, poems and essays, and being an accomplished musician. With Moebius (alias of Jean Girand) who is best known for Arzach, Jodorowsky created the original comic book story within his self-contained so-called Jodoverse (where all his science fiction takes place). The Incal is a dystopian story starring the detective DiFool, who receives the titular powerful crystals from a dying alien from another galaxy. Everyone is after the Incal.

Humanoids present Final Incal – the return of John DiFool. Along with his companion, Deepo, they must save the universe one more time. Their world is faced with an ‘all-devouring metallic virus’. The book also includes the complete Final Incal by Ladrönn and the bonus story, After the Incal illustrated by Moebius.

Jodorowsky said of his return to the classic series ‘Writing the story, and having it drawn, took a lot of time. It has been years of preparation, so I have had the time to get used to it. I feel as if I have, once again, gone on a nice, long walk ‘with some old friends…’ Meanwhile, Eisner-winning artist Ladrönn (Elephantmen) said that it ‘was a dream come true, because I was able to collaborate with Alexandro Jodorowsky, the writer I most admired. I always said that the Incal series was a major stepping-stone in my life. This was what made me decide to draw comics full-time.’ So that must have been one cool gig.

Check out the Final Incal Deluxe Edition comes in a slipcase and is limited to 1,500 copies.
