First Trailer for NBC’s Dracula Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers

DraculaUpfront season has arrived and NBC has finally announced it’s 2013-2014 lineup for the fall! One of the shows that I’m looking forward to their take on the classic tale of “Dracula”. This version stars Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) as the title character and fans of BBC’s Merlin will also notice the familiar face of Katie McGrath with one important distinction (besides not being a magical being), she’s a blonde here!

Dracula poses as an American businessman named Alexander Grayson who aims to bring modern science to 19th century Victorian London.  As someone who needs to avoid the sun, he has a specific interest in a new technology – electricity. But that’s not all he’s after of course. What’s really going on is that he wants revenge on those who cursed him to live forever and that plan is going well until he meets and becomes obsessed with the apparent reincarnated version of his dead wife.

The limited-run series also stars Victoria Smurfit (“About a Boy”), Thomas Kretschmann (“King Kong”), Jessica De Gouw (“Arrow”), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (“Mr. Selfridge”) and Nonso Anozie (“Game of Thrones”). Writer Daniel Knauf (“Carnival”), Tony Krantz, (“24,” “Sports Night”), Colin Callender and Gareth Neame (“Downton Abbey”) serve as executive producers.

While there’s no official premiere date yet, the show will air Fridays at 10PM ET on NBC and you can check out the first official trailer below:
