Fox Confirms X-files Reboot A Possibility

A snippet of news that has started to circulate online is sure to get fans of a certain paranormal TV show both salivating and crossing fingers. Fox TV group chairman Gary Newmen has confirmed that talks have taken place with a view to a possible reboot of Chris Carter’s X-files series. Later, fellow Fox TV group chairman Dana Walden added that any potential reboot would star the original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, and that the talks that had taken place so far were purely to look at time-tables and availability issues.

The show followed the ordeals of FBI agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) as they tried to solve hideous crimes and explain the strange phenomena that surrounded them. Layered on top of this was a government conspiracy and other obstacles that pushed the pair to the limit of their abilities and sanity.

The show aired in the ’90s and soon became a firm favourite with many fans who loved the dark horror and strange creatures as much as the dynamic between the two agents. There have since been two movies and spin-off series The Lone Gunmen, which focussed on Mulder’s hacker friends and their own issues with the government.

I’m sure fans will be holding their breath to see if this X-files reboot will happen, and holding it even longer until they know if the reboot will be as good as they want it to be. Fingers crossed!
