Genre Actors Lend Their Voices to ‘Chew’ Animated Series

Chew, one of Image Comics’ most celebrated series, is being adapted into an animated show. The male and female lead have been cast, and you may be familiar with them. First up is Tony Chu, an FDA agent with a supernatural talent for seeing the history of whatever he eats. Chu will be played by Steve Yeun, best known as Glenn on The Walking Dead. The female lead is named Amelia Mintz, a food critic who also has a strange ability. Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog) will lend her talents to Chu’s love interest. The director of Chew is Jeff Krelitz, has only directed a Peter Panzerfaust motion comic and a Torchwood web series- which also uses the webcomic style. So there’s little doubt about what form the Chew animation will take.

If you’ve never read Chew, and you’re curious about the comics before the animated series finds a home, Chew has been collected in 8 volumes, and 2 omnibus collections. The Chew animated series is set to debut this year, but it’s still a long way from being ready for distribution.
