Gillian Anderson, known for her role as Scully in the X-Files, Stella Gibson in the BBC’s The Fall, and numerous other roles, will be attending this Spring’s MCM London Comic Con to help promote her new film Robot Overlords. The MCM London Comic Con takes place 22-24th May at the Excel , London, and is already host to a tremendous amount of guests and panels. Gillian Anderson will be taking part in an on-stage panel along with Robot Overlords‘ writer/director Jon Wright at 5pm on Friday 22nd May.
As far as Robot Overlords itself, it certainly sounds like a film that has an intriguing tale to tell:
The adults lost the war and now it’s up to the kids to save the world! Robots rule the streets and the people are locked in their homes. Stepping outside risks being vaporised by a hulking Sentry or picked off by a lethal Sniper. From the ruins of Britain, a group of kids led by Callan McAuliffe (The Great Gatsby) set out to join the Resistance. But hot on their heels is their old teacher turned robot collaborator Mr Smythe, played by Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3), and his captive Kate Flynn, played by Gillian Anderson (The X-Files).
Robot Overlords aims to be an homage to 80’s action adventure films. Whether it achieves this aim or not, it is great to see a British Independent sci-fi flick serving up at tasty dose of invasion-fueled shenanigans.
