Guillermo Del Toro to Direct Live-Action “Incredible Hulk” TV Series

Today has come news that Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) and “Battlestar Galactica” producer David Eick have signed on for the Marvel and ABC live-action “Incredible Hulk” TV series.

The series will be an origin story, of  Bruce Banner/The Hulk.  The Hulk apparently will be a mixture of prosthetics, puppetry and CGI. obviously this direction was chosen because of the cost of using a full CGI hulk all the time.
Del Toro and Eick will work pilot script. Eick will then write the script and del Toro is attached to direct. Del Toro will also oversee the look of the Hulk character. I can’t see Del Toro continuing on as director for a full series, he’ll more likely fill the Frank Darabont/Walking dead role.

Marvel is aiming to launch the series after the 2012 release of “The Avengers,” which also features the Hulk. This means that the new TV show may premiere in the fall of 2012.

What do you guys think? Are you excited for this series now that Del Toro is attached!
