‘Halo 5: Guardians’ Introduces a New Spartan, Agent Locke

If you look at the artwork for Halo 5: Guardians, you may notice that Master Chief is not the focus of the picture. This mysterious new spartan is Agent Locke, and he’s so important to the new game that he is getting his own live action film, called Halo: Nightfall.

The Agent Locke role in Halo: Nightfall has gone to Mike Colter (The Following, Men in Black 3). We do not know if Colter will also voice Agent Locke in the video game. The first voice actors, according to IMDB, have already been cast. Ridley Scott, believe it or not, will be leading the film as director. This is not Halo‘s first leap into live action storytelling. Halo: Forward Unto Dawn told the story of a Spartan training center that comes under attack.

The first episode of the series can only be seen if you purchase the Halo: The Master Chief Collection in November. 343 Industries, developers of the Halo series since Bungie exited, say Locke has a “key role” in Halo 5: Guardians. How substantial is that role, though? Is he basically sharing half the game time with Master Chief? My theory is that 343 is going to see how gamers react to Agent Locke, and if he proves popular, spin him off with his own games.
