Halo’s Cortana could be Microsoft’s answer to Siri

Rumours that have leaked out in recent months suggest that Microsoft are working on a rival voice assistant service to mobile phone services such as Apple’s Siri, Samsung S Voice and Google Now. The rumours suggest that the service for their Window’s Phone 8 mobile operating software  is based on Cortana, Master Chief’s Smart artificial intelligence companion from Microsoft’s Xbox game series Halo.

A beta version of the voice assistant is set to launch in April and could be voiced by Jen Taylor, who did all the voice work for the four Halo games.  If successful the voice assistance service could also come to Windows 9 update and Xbox One in the future.
