Season 4 premiers in the US Friday, September 13 and will pick up six months after the fateful S3 finale. Without giving any spoilers, I can tell you that the Haven: The Complete Season Three DVD’s and BluRay’s will include a mini-graphic novel, titled “Haven: After The Storm,” that will fill in some of that 6-month gap between seasons three and four. The 16-page mini-graphic novel is penned by one of the series’ writing assistants, Nick Parker, and the entire project was overseen by the show runners, who are so dedicated and invested into the show. The graphic novel features cover art by Scott Hampton, who contributed art to the graphic novel version of the best-selling, award-winning Neil Gaiman novel, The Graveyard Book. The Haven mini-graphic novel was pencil and inked by the incredible Steve Ellis (The Walking Dead: Dead Reckoning, High Noon),
This past season of Haven was one of the most thrilling seasons of this show yet, and if you’re not caught up, you should be. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about being “on the fence” with this show, and I have to encourage you to give it a go, and to keep an open mind. However, if this years San Diego Comic-Con was any indication, there are plenty of people who need no fence in figuring out their affection for this show: they love it.
The great thing about this show is how they are able to answer questions without giving everything away. Each answer always comes with more questions, but I don’t find it frustrating. I like that they throw the audience a bone here and there and allow us to piece things together. The writers rely, rightfully, on the intelligence of their audience, and they don’t have to draw everything out in red crayon. Furthermore, the show isn’t as predictable as one might think. Sure, there might be some outcomes that are foreseen, but remember what I said about the audience being intelligent?
The DVD/BluRay set features all 13 episodes of season 3 and also some incredible bonuses:
- The Haunting Truth About Haven: A Documentary
- “Escape to Haven” Webisode Series
- Deleted/Alternate Scenes
- Six Audio Commentaries with the Writers
- Interviews with the Cast and Guest Stars
- Haven Panel from New York Comic Con
- >Behind-the-Scenes footage
- >Blooper Reel
- Exclusive 16-page comic
