Help Geek Syndicate Raise Money for Combat Stress

We here at GS are always more than happy to throw our weight behind a good cause and even more so when it’s one of our own doing the fundraising.

On the 4th/5th of June GS team member Fia Parry is hoping to raise money for charity by completing a 60k bike ride overnight as part of Nightrider London.

Taking in over 50 of London’s famous landmarks, Nightrider is a truly unique way to explore the capital. While London sleeps, 3000 cyclists will raise more than £2 million in one night for hundreds of charities. Highlights include Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Royal Opera House and the London Eye.

The charity that Fia and the four other team members are raising money for is Combat Stress.

We are a group of Fundraisers who work for Combat Stress and know first hand the importance of the work that CS does with Veterans with mental health conditions. Help us raise vitally needed funds to help make a positive difference to the lives of ex-Service men and women and their loved ones.

Just £10 – £20 provides materials for our art therapy work.

£125 pays for a consultation with a Psychiatrist.

Veteran James received specialised clinical care from Combat Stress to treat his severe PTSD:

“Since I first contacted Combat Stress I’ve almost done a 360, I can’t even say how much I owe Combat Stress. I’m a different person now – a different man.”

They bravely fought our battles, now we will fight for their mental health.

Now to give you an idea of the challenge Fia has set herself this is what she has to say about her own fitness.

My base level fitness is terrible and I’m pretty sure this is going to kill me.

So hopefully we can contribute a little something to help Fia and her team hit their target of £1000.

If you’re up for helping out you can head over to the fundraising page for the attempt:
