Michael “It’s Not a Reboot” Bay Talks Transformers 4

Michael Bay has been talking Transformers 4, promising a new cast and something a little different.

“It’s not a reboot, that’s maybe the wrong word,” reports Bay to the LA Times “We’re taking the story that you’ve seen — the story we’ve told in three movies already — and we’re taking it in a new direction. But we’re leaving those three as the history. It all still counts.”

With the possibility of the story leaving Earth, the fact the dull Shia LaBouf is being left on the side lines (along with arm candy Rosie Huntington-Whitely)  and, despite Transformer 3 talking over a $1 Billion USD worldwide, Bay talking a more modest budget, could we finally be getting a Transformers movie that lives up to the promise of the 2007 original?

Here’s hoping. I wasn’t a fan of the previous two Transformers films, they defined messy blockbuster excess that pollutes Hollywood summer blockbuster filmmaking.  Maybe this time Bay can get it right?

Find out when Transformers 4 opens worldwide in 2014.
