Jack the Ripper Joins Hammer Films

Hammer Films are slowly and steadily making their comeback matter with some great films coming through or in the pipeline. Now they have their sites on Jack the Ripper.

New Thriller Gaslight is coming to Hammer Films

Over the past few years Hammer have released a number of films including Let Me In and also the just released Woman in Black and the people at Hammer have also said they have major plans for some of the classic monster films including wolfman and Dracula.

Now they have just announced Gaslight by Ian Fried which is described as a cross between From Hell and Silence of the Lambs, which sounds like a perfect fit for Hammer Films. The script was known as one of the best screenplays from 2011 that never got made. I think this is just another step back to some classic horror films coming out that we never knew we had missed.

In Gaslight, Jack the Ripper, secretly imprisoned in a London insane asylum, is called upon to help Scotland yard solve a series if murders that share the iconic death brand: dual puncture wounds to the neck.
Exclusive’s president of worldwide production and acquisitions Tobin Armbrust will oversee the project for Hammer. The company’s creative exec Jennifer Ruper brought the project in.
Exclusive’s co-chairmen Guy East and Nigel Sinclair, as well as Hammer CEO Simon Oakes, are attached to produce.
