Joss Whedon Undecided About Returning to Direct Avengers Sequel

Joss Whedon is unsure that he will want to return to direct the next Avengers film. This news comes as a surprise as the Avengers film recently surpassed the $1 billion mark in global sales.

In a recent interview with LA Times’ Hero Complex  Joss Whedon said: “You know, I’m very torn. It’s an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else’s story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it.”

Although that sounds dispiriting, there appears to still be hope for a second Whedon helmed Avengers as he followed up those comments by saying: “But at the same time, I have a bunch of ideas, and they all seem really cool.”

It’s possible that Marvel Studios might find a way to convince the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly creator to stick around. Perhaps by helping him with making his next creator owned movie? Time will tell.

In the meantime True Believers: close your eyes, cross your fingers, and pray to the Lords of Decent Entertainment that Joss Whedon will return to helm the second Avengers outing.
