Marvel & DC News: Incredible Hulk, Aquaman, Ant-Man & Dr Strange

This Week: Marvel Mutterings & DC Dispatches Merge! (Well, for this week anyway!)

So this week, I’m being a little lazy and combining both titles for a little quick news-break:

Hulk: According to Mark Ruffalo, Marvel are debating whether or not to do a Hulk standalone adventure. Since The Incredible Hulk didn’t meet expectations (personally I thought it was brilliant!) and Ruffalo was brought in to replace the “difficult to work with” Ed Norton – his popularity in the role is often mentioned, and so we must take him at his word that he might get a movie all to himself – even if there’s currently “not even a skeletal version of what it would be”!

Batman vs Superman:  Warner have bucked the trend bigtime and gone 180 degrees on Aquaman – he isn’t blonde-haired and blue-eyed. Game Of Thrones, Conan and Stargate Atlantis star Jason Momoa will star as Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Together with the mixed reaction to Galit Gadot’s casting as Wonder Woman, Warner are certainly not afraid to walk off the beaten track, but I think this is another piece of inspired casting (after Gadot). Hell, I’m even starting to warm to Batfleck – if none of these names sits right with you, I have three words for you, “Heath Ledger, Joker”…

Doctor Strange: Prometheus and The Darkest Hour writer Jon Spaihts has been drafted in (no pun intended) to script Marvel’s Doctor Strange movie. He joins the recently named Sinister and The Exorcism Of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson. And who will play Steve Strange? Reports are that Dallas Buyers Club‘s Jared Leto has joined Tom “Bane” Hardy and (our favourite) Benedict “Sherlock / Khan” Cumberbatch as the possible lead.

Ant-Man: Now the dust has settled around Edgar Wright’s departure, details surrounding the nature of Ant-Man’s villains are starting to emerge. According to the interweb, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) is set to face the comic book villains Darren Cross and his cousin William. Cross is the head of Cross Technological Enterprises, and his cousin William later becomes Crossfire, and rumours are that Corey Stoll (The Strain, Law & Order LA) will be Cross, while Patrick Wilson (Insidious, Watchmen) takes on the role of William.
