Marvel Movie News on Strange, Amazing, Fury and Cap

Across the web there have been a few updates about the world of Marvel Movies so here we bring some of them for all you fans of the House of Ideas!

First up is The Amazing Spider-Man. Sony have released a small plot description which promises an untold story.

“One of the world’s most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in The Amazing Spider-Man. Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field.

“The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.”

The next movie is Doctor Strange which has been on the slow burner for a few years now but good news because it seems that it is now on the fast track.

After more than a year’s work, scribes Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer ( “Sahara”, PS3 game “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”) have reportedly completed their work on the script for the “Doctor Strange” movie at Marvel Studios reports io9.

The comic follows a New York surgeon who suffers injuries in a car crash, awakening to find himself endowed with great psychic powers.

Marvel are said to be now moving forward and actively searching for a director and key cast to take on the project for a hopeful release sometime in 2013.

Then we head to the Super Soldier himself Captain America where one of the cast members thinks it might start filming the end of 2012. Neal  McDonough said this about the sequel.

“They’re planning [to go into production] for the end of this year, because Marvel does one film at a time. So they’re going to do Thor 2 and as soon as Thor has wrapped, they’ll do Cap 2.

But that is not all because he then talked about the Nick Fury film… Whoa so cool.

Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into Nick Fury because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything. Because it’ll be me and Sam Jackson. In the real Marvel universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Nick Fury’s right hand man…And I just pray that they have a 1970s setting, because I want to see Sam Jackson with lambchops kicking people’s asses for Marvel universe. It would just be awesome. And to work with Sam would be a treat. We’ve become friendly over the years.

Now this is really cool news because not only is Sam the Man Jackson one of the coolest actors in the world but a full on Nick Fury spy movie would be great.
