Marvel Movie News Roundup

If you’re frequenting this site, I’m sure you’re well aware of the recent Marvel movie news. If not, you’re in for a treat. These last couple of days, we’ve found out more about three upcoming Marvel cinematic projects: Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man 3, and Avengers 2.

Go behind the jump for a round-up of all the exciting news!

First up, Iron Man 3 is going to experience a short delay, as Robert Downey, Jr. injured his foot while on set in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The log line for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie has been announced: “A U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons, who have something everyone wants.”  This U.S. pilot is confirmed to be Peter Quill (Star Lord). The rest of the team is set to be a more current version of the lineup, featuring Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora, and Drax the Destroyer. Marvel recently hired Chris McCoy to pen a new draft of the script, though no cast or director have been announced yet.

And finally, the big reveal: Avengers 2 is set to open on May 1st, 2015. So, we only have slightly less than three years until we can bask in its glory. Joss Whedon has already been confirmed to write and direct the sequel, helping to ensure it lives up to the success of the first movie. Whedon will also be developing a television show set in the world of the Marvel movies, though no real word on that yet.

Lots of news as Marvel presses forward with its cinematic universe and its so far great movie making record. Can’t wait to see what all this excitement and buzz really produces though.
