Marvel Mutterings: Agents of SHIELD, Peggy Carter, Blade & Iron Man

Whether it’s Fox, Sony or the Marvel stable themselves, here are the world-wide witterings!

This week: More push on Peggy Carter & Agents of SHIELD combo, Blade could return and “No” to Iron Man 4!

Peggy Carter / Agents of SHIELD: has a new teaser trailer out now:

They also assembled a new cast photo, and they are joined by a few new faces:

The big news, is the addition of Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) as a British STRIKE agent make his entrance in ‘Shadows’, the first episode of the new season. STRIKE were originally introduced in Marvel UK’s Captain Britain Weekly, with Lance Hunter as the organisation’s opposite number to Nick Fury. So if Fury has Captain America, can we look forward to a mention of  the UK’s homegrown equivalent, Captain Britain?

Now, we also found out that not only is Hayley Atwell’s Agent Peggy Carter due to appear in Agents Of SHIELD Season 2, but she’s due to be joined by at least two of the Howling Commandos – Kenneth Cho’s Jim Morita and  Neal McDonough’s Dum Dum Dugan, in some kind of flashback scene in the season premiere:

“Coulson is a big student of history and wants to return to those old ideals of Agent Carter’s time,” says Jed Whedon. “He’s, like, ‘Let’s be the SHIELD we were meant to be!’ He wants to do the job right this time.” Presumably if the actors are all costumed & tooled up, we can expect to see more of the Howling Commandos Marvel’s Agent Carter spin-off, too!? Certainly Marvel are taking a leaf out of DC’s / The CW’s Flash / Green Arrow book and ensuring that there is a close connection between their characters to keep the franchise buying as much share of audience’s mind as possible…

Iron-Man 4: Bad new true believers… Robert Downey Jr confirmed that he’s only down for Avengers: Age Of Ultron and a third Avengers movie, with no plans for a further episode of his solo Iron Man franchise. “There isn’t one in the pipe,” Downey said. “No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.” Asked who he would pick to replace him in the iron suit, Downey replied: “I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel.”

Blade (4): “I’d be open to it,” Wesley Snipes has said. “You know I think we got some stones left unturned and there’s some latitude for us to build on. I’d love to get back in the suit and do some things that I’ve learned how to do now that I didn’t know how to do then. I think we’re better at making that kind of film now. You know, some of the things that we did in the early parts of the franchise were experimental and now they’ve become customary in a lot of The Avengers films and other comic-book adaptations.” Just one catch Wesley… The Blade rights reverted back to Marvel back in mid 2013 – and whilst Marvel could make another Blade movie with Wesley Snipes in it, there are certain aspects of his depiction that could be a legal issue  Disney and New Line Picture (actually owned by Warner Bros!). More importantly, surely Marvel would reboot with a younger unknown… Wesley Snipes is 50-something now! With Marvel Studios having Daredevil and Ghost Rider back too, many of us want to see a combo Midnight Sons movie go head-to-head with Warner Bros’ proposed Justice League Dark movie…
