UPDATED: Merlin Series 4 Casting News!

Hello Merlin fans! How’s everyone doing without new episodes of our favorite warlock?

Personally, I’ve been re-watching Series 3 on Syfy and waiting for news from the upcoming Series 4 after the announcement that the show’s getting a full 13 episode order instead of the original 10. Well, the wait is over because we’ve got some exciting casting news to share and a super spoilery one behind the cut!

Hello Uncle!

Thanks to our friends over at Digital Spy, it’s been revealed that Nathaniel Parker (Inspector Lynley Mysteries, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) has been cast as Agravaine, uncle of Prince Arthur. In the legend, he’s actually a Knight of the Round Table and Arthur’s nephew – so there’s definitely a relationship change there.

Adios Uther?

In related news, Anthony Head will be reprising his role as Stephen in the U.S adaptation of the romantic comedy Free Agents. Currently, he’s slated to star in the pilot with a series option so what this spells for Uther’s storyline this year remains to be seen.

I’m thinking the role will be reduced if Free Agents gets picked up. I’d be sad to see him leave the show but it looks like Uther’s reign is coming to an end. What do you guys think – how long will Uther around?

She’s Not Dead Yet! Or Is She?

It looks like Morgause may not be down for the count after all! The Telegraph has reported that Emilia Fox, who plays Morgana’s wicked half-sister, is due back on the set of Merlin on Monday. She won’t be alone however – she’s bringing her 4-month old daughter, Rose, to work with her: “I can’t wait to get back, but I can’t be away from Rose for too long after spending the last four and a half months with her, so I’ll either bring her with me or go home frequently.”

I think that just because Morgause is back, doesn’t mean she’s alive – Emilia could be filming flashback scenes to Morgana’s “Lost Year”. It’d be more interesting to watch Morgana flounder and make her own decisions rather than having orders and ideas directed at her via her sister. What do you think?

Come on Sharlene! Use your contacts! Get the guys to do another podcast from the set. With all those knights running around certainly they could snag a few of them for good quotes.

Yay on the Uncle news. Betting money is he is estranged from Uther and after the throne. Can’t wait for S4.

I’m wondering if he’s Uther’s brother or Ygraine’s – she already had one (Tristan – The Black Knight) so maybe she’s got another? As for set visits/interviews etc, we’ll see what we can do 🙂

Most interesting – Thank you for the info.

I think Uther’s menacing presence is still very important for the show, because Merlin’s life would be much easier withouth the king’s hate of magic.
But Arthur could be more in charge in s4, and if so, I’m expecting some serious conflicts between father and son.

“Get the guys to do another podcast from the set.”

    That would be cool.

Agreed – think that there will be more of Arthur stepping up, which will be a nice change from the “I’ll give up my kingdom for you” crazy Arthur from “Queen of Hearts” last series!

I don’t know who you are, but thanks for the update, living here in Michigan it’s hard to find out anything about Merlin without the Net.
Season 3 was beyond great, I was wondering how they were going to top it, but it looks like they are already off to a good start and I can’t wait to see Season 4.
