Nuge’s Marvel Solicitations picks for December!

Here I’ve listed some of those comics I’m either going to add to the pull list or wish I jumped on board so I’ll be waiting for the trade. Hopefully Dave will do the same.

Here goes!

SAMURAI – LEGEND #4 (of 4)
Written by JEAN-FRANCOIS DI GIORGIO
Adapted by JAKE FORBES
Penciled by FRÉDÉRIC GENÊT
Cover by FRÉDÉRIC GENÊT
The stunning conclusion of the epic European best-seller! The empire’s future hangs in the balance. In a Japan crushed by poverty and misery, one man — Akuma — attempts to seize the throne. His fortress under siege, the emperor — leader of a lesser army — faces a bitter and wild conflict. But his enemies are much closer than he would imagine. And when the sun sets on the last terrible battle, the outcome is more uncertain than ever.

The Nuge says: SAMURAI!! AGAIN SAMURAI??!!! how in the hell did I miss out on this. I’ll be crossing my fingers that this comes up in trade. Hopefully in this one Tom cruise doesn’t become a Samurai in like 2 days!

AVENGERS/INVADERS #7 (of 12)
Written by JIM KRUEGER & ALEX ROSS
Penciled by STEVE SADOWSKI
Cover by ALEX ROSS
Variant Cover by PASQUAL FERRY
Marvel’s biggest self-contained story of the year continues! Featuring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and spanning the generations from 2008 to the war-torn days of World War II! Surrounded by a trio of enemies they thought long-vanquished, The Avengers are victims of one of the most powerful pieces of technology in the Marvel Universe. Meanwhile, the Invaders find themselves trapped in an alternate reality that promises to destroy its most powerful member as the countdown to Armageddon begins.

The Nuge says: Funny I love Alex Ross art and I used to read some of my brother’s Invaders comics but for some reason I just wasn’t interested in this. I think some of this was in part that although I enjoyed Justice I didn’t enjoy anywhere near like I thought I would.

I might seek out some valued opinions and see if it’s work picking it up in trade.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #45
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Penciled by LUKE ROSS
Cover by STEVE EPTING
Villain Variant by TBA
It’s Bucky versus Batroc and a mysterious foreign agent from his past as the Winter Soldier, as he fights to keep a secret super-weapon from falling into enemy hands! But the shocking ending of this three-parter brings a new twist to the mission… and sends our New Captain America in search of whatever is left of his old comrades, the Invaders.
From Ed Brubaker and Luke Ross – Part Three of Three

The Nuge says: I only recently read the first trade of Brubaker’s run ‘Winter  Solider’ and loved it  like a bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes (I do love me some CN flakes!). I’ll definitely be picking up the rest of these in trade. Hopefully I can bag a few at this year’s BICS.

INCOGNITO #1
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Art & Cover by SEAN PHILLIPS
From the creators of Criminal and Sleeper comes the most insane and evil super-villain comic you’ve ever read!
What if you were an ex-super villain hiding out in Witness Protection… but all you could think about were the days when the rules didn’t apply to you? Could you stand the toil of an average life after years of leaving destruction in your wake? And what if you couldn’t stand it? What would you do then?
INCOGNITO – a twisted mash-up of noir and super-heroics – by best-selling creators Ed Brubaker (The Death of Captain America) and Sean Phillips(Marvel Zombies) with Val Staples on colors.
And continuing Criminal’s single issue tradition, each issue of Incognito has more pages of story content, as well as articles on pulp and noir and behind the scenes looks!

The Nuge says: They had my money at ‘What if you were an ex-super villain hiding out in Witness Protection?’

That’s it for now look out for more picks from the other comic company solicitations
